A cascade of liberals is never a good thing. All the bad stuff about reddit was because of it being liberal - whether by its corporate astroturfing or simply sheer population makeup. And the corporations will follow the people because that’s where the money is.

The funny thing is that these liberal morons don’t realize the reason they hate reddit is because it is liberal. So they come to lemmy and begin doing the same exact shit that made them hate reddit in the first place.

If nothing else it’s a great watch to see in real time how liberals ruin things.

I suggest adopting a dictatorship-of-the-ML stance on liberals, democracy is for comrades and sane people.

The brooklyn lib seems to be encroaching on your territory in the world news community, turning it into /r/worldnews! Keep up the good fight, yogthos. I’m new to Lemmy in general and I’m sad to see I missed the days before the liberal invasion.

Yeah, growth definitely comes at a cost. I think it’s going to be important to push back against these people from the start.

Yes, note that it’s basically 5 people again just spamming their shit all over plus the oldtimers who for some reason were not banned like pingveno or that Romanian guy.

I don’t even think they are necessarily the reddit libs, look like how they promote beehaw all the time, most likely those are the same guys as always.

Yeah, out of thousands of people that joined, it’s literally just a couple of trolls sucking up all the air.

tbf to the devs, despite being comrades, I get why they want to maintain more of a neutral instance, they already get people whining and calling them evil tankies for not banning us, like that one mastodon user (who insists that everyone should switch to kbin instead!!!), could you fucking imagine the shit storm if they started banning libs like that?

Yeah, saw you tried engaging with similar results. It’s pretty clear that talking to these trolls isn’t really productive. I think just downvoting them and moving on might be the way.

I think you’re right. There’s no real attempt to understand what we’re saying. You just get told that even though you (repeatedly) said X, you must’ve meant Y. Where can a conversation even go with that attitude?

It’s like talking about Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls and being told you’re wrong about him playing football for Argentina.

I really have very little interest in engaging with trolls. Sometimes, it’s not obvious that someone is a troll, though, but once started there’s a kind of duty to reiterate one’s point and make sure one’s views aren’t misrepresented. Still, I know now and shall try not to engage.

Maybe one way forward is for us (and other like-minded users) to keep engaging in those communities but only/mainly with each other.

I agree, I think we do need to engage in these communities, but we have to be careful to avoid feeding the trolls. I find the only value is to provide information for other people who might read the thread, but it’s so easy to just go down a rabbit hole. I catch myself doing that all the time, and then I’m like why did I keep replying.

I do think that multiple people replying once and explaining why the troll is wrong is a lot more effective than a single person trying to debate them though.

Did you see what is happening in the blinken thread right now? There are fucking libs coming out unironically with takes like “I always though US military is bloated but this was is a wake up call for me”, “just this once US is right” and even “US needs to spend more on weapons”

        That’s self-writing meme.

Perhaps they may come here and learn about and socialize with others who hold mutual views which the liberal faux left exclude (revolution, Russia, pragmatic material progress as opposed to performative optics and left aesthetics, etc…)

I find lemmy.ml instance acts as a good middle ground where people from the mainstream are relatively comfortable, and we can engage them and help educate. I like Lemmygrad being an explicit ML instance where we don’t constantly have to debate the merits of communism.

Biggest problem is that the lib instances are basically immediately blocking us as soon as they’re created

Beehaw has blocked just our instance, and I am going to refrain from speaking too much about them or I will likely say something I regret. However they are a very liberal instance with one rule “Bee Nice” (There use to be more like no sea lioning, sea lioning was asking for sources) and its run “like a comunity” and they have no dislike button (see only rule).

We got blocked by them really quickly, then they complained that we where so high up on the join Lemmy website because we were/are the most(or second we flip with lemmy.ml alot) active instince so they got hard coded to be ont of the first 2 to be recommended to new people

If I got any of this wrong, or was overly harsh please feel free to correct me please

Lol I saw that thread. I know liberals are sensitive, but goddamn. I was talking (or trying, I think I was blocked due to activity in lemmygrad) about joining an instance that has us blocked.

They’d rather plug their ears and cover their eyes than critically think and inquire about why we feel the way we do.
