  • i started to take one test and a lot if it is over simplified or just mem. but there are two specific things i wpuld like to point out.

    1. the statement about pornography is over simplified. it was worded in such a way that a crack down on porn is good, agree or not. it over simplified because there are a group of prople eho see it as immorsl and a crack down means stopping it for immoral reasons, however it needs intervention. there is nothing erong with fully consenting adilts doing porn but there is a lot if predatory snd exploitative things happening to make money in that industry. its not a simple topic. i have no issie with it in concept but the industry has a lot of problems and needs rehilation.

    2. there seems to be a misunderstanding of social contract. social vontract is where i sau “i give up my right to kill people so i live in a society where i am safer”

side note, this statement doesnt make complete sense: “Insurance should be used voluntarily by individuals rather than welfare.”

i can see welfare being compared with guaranteed minimum income but not insurance.

People are downvotimg you without explaoning. ai has not shown signs of self preservation. i guessing you have seen some of the marketing campaigns for the llms. they are rpivrms rhat do what they are told to do. they perform language by choosing rhe next best word.

the technology is veru cool but its not magic. we are not near spme great evolution.

  • as someone who uses ai to help on researching an issue/question - i have no understanding whyvpeople just submit generated code. i realize i just dont use it to generate stuff. i use it to find stuff.

when this forst came out, i thought non devs would use it for creating an app that they use at home just for them. but no, i constantly see people posting about their project and trying to getvpeople involved. a project fully generated by an llm. or as in the issue here, generating code to be merged into a project…why? i jist dont get it.

  • my knee jerk reaction was thinking the same as you but this very paticular case, i am not sure. i havent made up my mind.

lets talk about opposite ends and then talk about snapchat

    1. if a person is sitting in mcdonalds saying they want to shoot up a school, we wouldnt think it weird if someone called the authorities. in fact peoples lives have been saved because someone overheard something

    2. in contrast, a private conversation on signal should never be read and everyone should stop using it if it is read.

now snap chat is neither a public place or an encrypted communication app. it falls in between. it is a social media app. would you be worried if it was facebook? i keep thinking about it. why shouldnt snapchat report it? keep on mind that i have never used snapchat, facebook, or instagram and i thought snapchat was basically for sending pictures. (i am older). but, honest question, why would people expect privacy on snapchat? again, i havent used it and not as “hip”, so i am genuinely asking and this isnt a loaded question
