This license provides full access to the source code, encourages public auditing and community collaboration, and imposes copyleft rules. However, because it includes a restriction on replicating the core purpose of the Product, it does not meet the Open Source Definition (OSD) by the Open Source Initiative (OSI), anyway, the point 6b ensures the license will eventually convert to an OSI-approved license.

FPAL is best described as a source-available, copyleft, and business-protective license.

Honestly, if any distro included this, it would be an instant red flag.

  • Holy sexy UIs. I wish they could implement them all and let the user chose. They look great!

There was something similar a few years ago from the KDE Breeze team, a designer published what he wished for Breeze and the internet split in two bands, those that liked cleaner less crowded UIs, and those that liked tighter information-dense interfaces. It was controversial because everyone thought that was an official direction for the project and it was immediately taken out of public view and I can’t find any screenshots from back then.

But I immediately fell in love with it and I wish I could get a copy and vibe code it for my personal use.
