Currently, I’m using the NextCloud’s extension Phonetrack, and one on my main use cases is to export GPX files to use them in Darktable and add geotracking information to the pictures I shoot with my camera. It works well, actually, but Phonetrack is not too intuitive and does not offer many other features: that’s why I was looking with interest at this alternative!

Very very cool! I see that you can import GPX files: can you also do the opposite, i.e., export a GPX file for a selected time range?

I tried both the OwnTracks server and Dawarich, and had problems using them with my reverse proxy (Caddy), which I didn’t manage to fix. Eventually, I installed the Nextcloud app Phonetrack, and I’ve been using it for months with the OwnTracks client: it works fine, it can also export GPX files, which I can use to tag pictures shot with my camera, using Darktable. I recommend this solution if you are already using Nextcloud!

I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve been using GNOME+Wayland on a few distros, including Fedora, OpenSUSE, and Arch, on at least 3 different computers, and I also use workspaces and keyboard shortcuts extensively: I’ve never encountered such problems. I remember warching a video on YouTube, by The Linux Experiment, where he criticized the GNOME experience on tablets, just to discover later that it was an Ubuntu issue, and that other distros would work well: maybe this is the case, too? Or maybe your computer has one of those older NVIDIA GPUs, which are infamous for working bad in Wayland due to driver issues.

I’ve been using Wayland for years and I have no idea of what you are talking about (regarding the key-up, key-down issue, but I also haven’t noticed any crash attributable to Wayland, specifically). Did the same computer you are using work with X11, and stopped working properly after an update? Could it be a hardware or driver issue? Also, has Canonical removed the X session from Ubuntu 24.04, or using Wayland is a company policy?

Personally, I followed the instructions to install Caddy with Docker Compose in the Nextcloud AIO reverse proxy documentation. Regarding building custom images, there are the instructions to build a custom Caddy image in a Dockerfile in the Docker Hub page.
