New observations by the James Webb Space Telescope suggest that an icy moon around Uranus may have an underground liquid ocean.
Ariel is one of 27 moons around Uranus, the seventh planet from the sun and the third largest planet in the solar system. It’s one of four moons that scientists have long been interested in as part of a search for water across the solar system, the others being Umbriel, Titania and Oberon.
Ariel is named after a character in William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest,” while Titania and Oberon are from his “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
Well that’s a convenient naming coincidence.
Unnnder de iiiiiiice. Unnnder de iiiiice. …
Darling it’s bolder Down where it’s colder Take it from me
Yes, but they also should have written “water world”
Guys we just gotta change it.
Think of when we one day meet aliens. They’re gonna be like
“Ok I get it was a mythological name originally but your language shifted into a global standard, and the name clashed with the name of your waste orifice. And you didn’t change it. What the hell y’all”
I thought the aliens were into butt stuff.
It’s around Uranus but it isn’t big and gassy?
Still, we should probably head out there to wipe out the Klingons.
Edit: I stand by my slightly rephrased MST3K reference!
Hehehe
So, is there a ring of debris around Uranus?
Those aren’t mountains…
That’s no moon.
Ocean world? I hardly know er!
Just say it! I have a big, fat watery ass!
