Seems weird to push it more, even with all the issues BG3 has had supporting both models.
That said, with the high inflation and crazy hardware prices (especially here in Europe) it’s nice to see some gaming hardware available on a reasonable budget.
I wish they’d make it more open though like the Steam Deck is. It feels so stupid having like $350+ of good hardware and then not being able to use it to easily do whatever you want.
I have yet to set it up myself, but apparently the Series S does run emulators quite well https://youtu.be/T1C2yQI9rss
However, the steam deck does that and more just fine
I 100% agree with you on all 3 fronts. Especially 3. If they chose the model S to be their more open and experimental option that would be incredible for the more hacky parts of the tech community, just like the steam deck has been
You can do some homebrew stuff on it if you buy Dev Mode access for £15
I feel like 1tb in 2023 is like putting a 10 litre fuel tank in a 4x4
or do xbox games take up less room?
They definitely don’t take up less room. 1tb is still manageable tho. Enough to handle 5 or so AAA games or more and then also some indies. Most users won’t need that much extra at the moment
The S is a solid little console, but the storage is what always held it back from being a truly awesome GamePass machine.
This storage upgrade was long overdue.
I’m shocked this isn’t replacing the original Series S at $300.
It’s a great price but still kind of a hard sell for me considering a digital-only PS5 is just $50 more expensive with a more powerful system and a feature-rich controller.
I actually prefer the Xbox controller – the offset joysticks are more comfortable for my hands.
