I’m not sure if the 2 seconds is worth ruffling the players feathers over. Love the pitch clock, but not sure if this is needed, at the moment.

Leave it alone. This only serves to over complicate it and make it harder for pitchers to keep a rhythm.

That would just make games longer. If they are worried about the length of games they need to shorten the commercial breaks.
