… you’ve made the right choice! Stay with us and let’s contribute to make it a wonderful place :)

(hopefully soon with better “hide read post” features, i.e. on scrolling past a post :winkwinkJerboa:).

Cat pic unrelated but ain’t she beautiful?

Edit : I’d understand if this post is deleted since it’s not strictly about lemmy.world, but I really didn’t know where to post it!

lemmy.ml seems to have built a reputation too, which is interesting. I never had any poor interactions (yet) with any moderation across the fediverse, but it’s interesting to see the effects of moderation style impacting instances.

It’s interesting, because moderation here is public: you can check the modlog at the bottom of the page to see what was removed. Transparency is awesome, plus you get to see what mods have to deal with every day.

This does so much more to keep people honest too. If anything, it should build consensus. “Here’s the really fucked up thing John Doe said” and rational people would see it and go “yeah, damn, good move” instead of the chamber of hidden secrets system Reddit had.

Asshole mods can get called out while shitty users are way more obvious.

I’m not going anywhere. Feels more like home tbh. Curious how it evolves as people sort themselves out, and what kind of interaction we get, if any, among the different communities with different opinions. I’m sure there’ll be drama lol. Here for it.

i agree, feels very cosy here. just enough people to have a good conversation but not too many to feel swamped.

I’m still confused by the Fediverse stuff. I can’t grasp how to subscribe to lemmy in kbin and vice versa. But I’m here to stay.

I don’t mind taking the time to become acclimated. Had I known about the existence of lemmy (fediverse?) I would have left reddit sooner.

I just made a new account.
I also have a Beehaw account (which I couldn’t use the Jerboa app for??) and am so confused about “instances.”

You can use Jerboa with your beehive account. I’ve done it. Works with any lemmy instance as far as I know.

Beehaw is an instance, sh.itjust.works is an instance, lemmy.world, etc. All instances.

Edit: kbin isn’t lemmy but they run on the same tech and can interact.

I would like to ask the community about err… this :p

      Do… anyone know? I mean… I have a lot of questions.

They are referencing an infamous old website called Time Cube - although looking at their post history it seems to be pretty much spam rather than a joke.

Oh. I definitely learned something today (even though… well…).

          Thanks, fellow lemming!
