Man, that we even need Cloudflare these days is a reflection of the modern internet. You’ve been able you DDOS any site for decades. You’ve been able to crawl sites and overload them for the same. We didn’t need cloudflare back in the day though, even though the average user was more capable of doing such than the average user today, and even though we basically had no protection. I ran servers out of my house, and the last time I tried that I had thousands of intrusion attempts within a week. Web 2.0 turned the web into a gigantic scam by incentivizing anti social behavior. If someone hacked my website, it went down and people couldn’t look at my shitty blog. If someone hacks a modern site, they’re likely to get access to millions of peoples extremely granular personal data. Data that was captured for Web 2.0 in service of profit seeking.

Is clownflare doing something to prevent Win7 users from accessing the web?

I should make a clownflare emote. That’d be funny. xD

Do we want Windows 7 users to catch a break? Those folks haven’t seen a security patch in a few years. If they like Windows then upgrading to 10 or 11 would best.

Windows 7 was the last version of Windows to not have the Spyware garbage shipped with it. Microsoft did ship updates to track stuff later on, but it can be easily purged. Windows 8/8.1 is technically fairly close as far as ease of spyware removal, but everyone universally hates 8/8.1

It’s also fairly modifiable, as far as Windows OS systems go, Microsoft seemed to really lock things down more intensely in later versions (or maybe people are just more familliar with Win7 and how to break/modify it.)

In general, though, I agree, people probably should downgrade to 8/10/11 for security updates if they want to stick with windows. If Anti-cheat software stops/stopped supporting Win7, then I’d say Linux gaming is probably on-par with Windows 7 gaming, if gaming is the reason Win7 users are sticking around.

The creepy spyware stuff is why I only see Windows long enough to knock out my dailies in Princess Connect and Genshin. That is all I trust Windows 11 to handle. XP was the last Windows OS I used full time and while it was good in it’s day no one should be using it connected to the Internet nowadays.
