It’s been a long time since I’ve had any time for gaming at all, but this past week I’ve actually had time for two gaming sessions which has been awesome.

That system seems so alien to me, I can’t even imagine. When my wife gave birth, she lost a ton of blood, like, far more than normal. She ended up needing both an iron and blood transfusion, and we needed to stay for a few extra days. She got a ton of meds and got seen by several doctors. Plus my baby had a couple small issues too which needed to get treated. Everything worked out okay, and everyone’s healthy now, thankfully. We didn’t pay a single cent. It was all covered. I can’t imagine making those decisions thinking about how much it would cost. I remember shortly after birth we were looking at how much birth costs in the States, it was insane. I can’t remember how much now but it was just for regular birth, I’m sure all the extras we needed would’ve cost more.

Did you have to pay the difference out of pocket? Or is there a discounted price for insurance providers to pay that laypeople aren’t approved for?

Whenever I go to the doctor, hospital, etc I just give them my health card (which is freely provided to every Canadian citizen) and they punch in the number into their system, then that’s that. I don’t have to pay or contact insurance or anything. Some stuff doesn’t count such as the dentist but dental care is almost always provided through work benefits.

I rarely see it in Canada. I’ve only seen it at farmers markets. I did a quick search and apparently it is fully legal, just uncommon. As long as you either advertise the highest cost or clearly explain the different cost levels (like in the OP) it’s fine apparently. The more you know.

I couldn’t help but notice there’s a different price for cash and card, is that normal in the States?

As a Canadian I genuinely can’t tell if this is an exaggeration or not.

Jesus died around AD 30-33. AD doesn’t mean After Death, it means Anno Domini, or Year of our Lord, referring to the number of years after his birth. So if Paul was born AD 5, Jesus would’ve been 5 years old when Paul was born.

I loved TLOU1, truly a fantastic game. The sequel, I never finished. Got a little over halfway through. I hope you beat it though.

I saw Jesse Welles a few weeks back and his encore was almost as long as the show before. He left stage and I figured “that was a decent length show, he’ll probably do 2-3 more songs and call it a night” and then he came back and did another hour or so, it was awesome.

I can’t speak for random Reddit folks but I’ve never been disappointed in the ink and I’ve gone through lots of refills. It doesn’t write as smoothly as my Parker Jotter (which is my at-home pen of choice when I’m not feeling a fountain pen), but the Jotter is twice the price and the refills aren’t all metal (I’m sure you can probably get metal refills third party but I haven’t tried them myself).

I’ve been using the Zebra F-701 for work for a few years now and it’s suffered getting beaten around a lot and taken it extremely well. It’s a fully metal pen, and you can get metal refills too (which I do). In my line of work, all the plastic pens I’ve used have broken, so in my search for an all-metal pen brought me to the 701 and I love it. I got my wife one too for her at work and she also loves it. Great value for money, too.

No, I’ve never even heard of it before. I looked it up, it does look interesting but I think it would be too frantic for me. While I do appreciate a game that is quick, since I don’t really have any time for video games these days, something that requires me to have lightning fast reflexes seems a bit too much for me at this point. On the rare occasion I get to sit down and play a game I want it to be something I don’t have to stress over too much. I happen to be pretty good at souls games so I don’t find them stressful, and otherwise I tend to play slower paced RPGs and stuff.

I’m not sure I’ve had any boss fight last 10 minutes in Elden Ring and I’ve played through the game 20+ times. Unless you’re doing challenge runs, that could obviously take way longer depending on the challenge run. But a normal playthrough? I’d be surprised to see any boss take 10 minutes to kill. One of you would be dead long before then I think.

I haven’t found the enemies to be bullet spongey in Elden Ring either as long as you’re sufficiently levelling and upgrading your weapons so I’m not sure I know what you mean.

But in Sekiro you don’t really damage health but rather build a stance meter, which once you fill all the way allow you to deal a death blow, but if you stop attacking or deflecting for more than a moment the meter starts to go back down. You can do health damage but it doesn’t usually make sense to do so.

Ah, the roof of Ashina Castle. The boss at the end there is sort of described as the brick wall that basically is the “final exam” that determines if you’re ready for the “real game” so-to-speak. I’d personally recommend doing that boss and Lady Butterfly around the same time, but you could do it in either order or avoid LB entirely if you wanted to. I usually reach both bosses before fighting either, then fight them back to back, that’s just the way that makes the most sense to me, but everyone’s different.

The entirety of Hirata Estate is technically optional, so you could always skip it or save it for later if you find Lady Butterfly for example to be too difficult. Outside of there, how far did you get in the main part of the game?

I absolutely adore Sekiro but going to it after a different souls game is gonna be tough. It plays very differently from every other souls game, to the point that a lot of folks would consider it to not be a souls game. The combat is just so unique and if you try to play it like a souls game you’re gonna have a bad time. With that being said, it also has my favourite combat system I’ve ever played and once you learn it, it’s so satisfying to play. I would still highly recommend it, but don’t go into it thinking it’ll play like Bloodborne or Elden Ring or something.
