Dota 2@lemmy.ml•The International 2025 - Day 4 Discussion ThreadEnglish
2·2 mesi faYeah, I totally agree. Old group stage had too many zero-stake games. This year, every swiss game might decide if a team would go home early

Dota 2@lemmy.ml•The International 2025 - Day 4 Discussion ThreadEnglish
1·2 mesi faThat’s my feelings too.
Rollback to one day before (pre-Round 5), 1-3 teams were fighting for the last straw, and 3-1 teams were grabbing the VIP pass to stadium. These games were brutal. But for the three games between six 2-2 teams, it meant almost nothing
I have a question: What’s the difference between 3-2 and 2-3 in Swiss-round?

11·2 mesi faAs a long time linux user, I’m happy to see that linux news are being posted in non-tech communities more frequently.
Windows might be the most famous (notorious) vendor-lock in, but migrating from Windows to Linux is more smooth than the stereotype

6·2 mesi faI’ve been using Linux for more than a decade. Modern Linux is quite easy to start, compared to the old stereotype.
I highly recommend an easy way: for the daily softwares you use, you try to replace them with cross-platform ones, like libreoffice, thunderbird… when you want to try Linux someday, the migration path could be more smooth than you expected

10·3 mesi faPersonally, my favourite site is liberapay.
They’re very transparent about the transaction fees, and they’re providing suggestions to reduce the cost (once per year instead of once per month)
According to their website https://en.liberapay.com/about/
Liberapay is a non-profit organization founded in 2015 in France by Changaco and Zatalyz.
On the other hand, liberapay is focus on donations, and they don’t have the fancy socialization tools at buy me a coffee
Wallet not safe. Filling up my shopping list now
I’m using Mlem since its testflight.
For now, I’m quite satisfied with the app store version

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Best SSD for Gaming 2025: PCIe 5.0 vs 4.0 vs 3.0 vs SATA vs HDDEnglish
3·3 mesi faGood question. I found a comparison video by GamerInVoid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VODSVVkKRD4
According to their video, I think Ratchet and Clank is still playable on a PC with SATA SSD, but the waiting time when jumping between the worlds is definitely longer than NVMe

6·3 mesi faI think it’s a chicken-or-egg dilemma for PC gaming. Game devs don’t want to lose the big market of legacy hardwares, so core gamers can’t maximize their top notch PC’s potentials.

Nintendo@lemmy.world•Nintendo briefly opened a survey to ask players their opinion on digital and physical games – could there be changes after the negative response to Switch 2 Game Key Cards?English
3·3 mesi faI can’t understand it either.
I’d consider the digit key cards as a physical cartridge requiring a huge first-day patch (as large as a full game).
Okay, I guess some of the anger comes from the limited storage of console and the high price of fast SD card
I like their passion with Hi-Res, but 10cad/mo is more than I could afford. I’m using stingray music. This Quebec company provides free music radio with advertisements.
My friend is using https://www.beanfield.com/en/tor
He enjoyed their service, but the coverage of beanfield is very limited

This is a dup post, I’ll copy my reply to here:
I’m glad to find that Crypt of the NecroDancer is Vancouver-based! It’s time for me to buy DLCs for it. Besides, I’d like to buy their new product in 2025, Rift of the NecroDancer
Crypt of the NecroDancer is also on a promotion on GOG: https://www.gog.com/en/game/crypt_of_the_necrodancer Rift of the NecroDancer (2025) is not on GOG yet: https://www.gog.com/dreamlist/game/rift-of-the-necrodancer-2025

8·5 mesi faI like GOG for its DRM-free policy, and I’d support GOG for their effort to keep old games running.
We’d avoid perfectionism here. Buying a Canadian video game is great. Buying it on GOG is even better

By default, all windows/mac/linux laptops will ask users to set up a password for log-in. This is not sufficient, but much better than password-less unlock

I’m curious to Animal Crossing’s upgrade. The loading time when entering rooms was too long on Switch 1.
