I agree with you in general, with the following caveats:

    1. Fuck that guy. He’s a rapist and a fraud. He makes fun of disabled reporters. He calls dead veterans losers. He has lost the privilege of my sympathy.
    2. Nobody else actually cares about the size of his hands. In fact, they’re probably a normal size. It’s Trump who has this weird narcissistic, dysmorphic obsession with his hands. So we’re not laughing at the way he looks, just his psychological problems. Maybe that’s worse, but I don’t care because (1).

Yeah, 2 is the main point. We’re not mocking him for the size of his hands, we’re mocking his insecurity about them. Nobody besides him actually cares how big his hands are, nor does anyone really care how big anyone else’s hands are.

If he has psychological problems it would kind of follow that those would be the cause of number 1, right?

Narcissistic is an ancient Greek slur for asexual people. Trump isn’t asexual, so he’s not narcissistic. Although even if someone is using the insult correctly, I still consider them a queerphobe.

The term “narcissism” was only coined at the close of the nineteenth century, to refer to pathological self absorption, egotism, or sexual attraction to oneself over others.

In current usage, it refers to a self–centered personality style characterized as having an excessive preoccupation with oneself and one’s own needs, often at the expense of others, which fits Trump like a particularly small glove.

Sure, it’s named after Narcissus, from Graeco-Roman mythology, who is indeed said to have rejected everyone’s sexual (and romantic) approaches (guy was so mythically attractive that everyone fell for him)… but, according to most versions of the myth (including the ones that inspired the term), he was very much capable of sexual and romantic attraction… to himself, to the point that, being unable to properly fuck himself as he wanted to, he took his own life in frustration.

Yes, and the difference is that personality disorders are lifelong disabilities just like being deaf or quadriplegic, while mental illnesses are curable maladies more like the common cold.

Being deaf is definitely not a personality disorder. If we can’t agree on that then we can’t go anywhere from here. Personality disorders aren’t disabilities. You can’t get any medical exemptions for being a narcissist or borderline

Narcissists seem to be hiding under the guise of that being a slur so they don’t have to make the change to be better people

If someone says they’re “brutally honest” that’s just them being an asshole, but they won’t admit they’re an asshole because they don’t want to have to face their terrible personality and fix it. Personality, not disability

Of course being deaf isn’t a personality disorder. It’s a disability, like a personality disorder is. Do you not know what the word “like” means? It highlights similarity between two concepts that are not the same.
