As it stands the neolibs are getting over 35% of the votes while we circle around 20%.

Is it disappointing? Well, yes actually. It seems like we expected a bit too much to happen.

Why the results are like this we’ll have to analyse in the coming days.

Not really sure what else to say. Had a great day otherwise in my home country with my family. Keep on going, I guess. The revolution will not be won in Parliament.

Movements like this putting up 20 percent of a vote share is huge actually, the difference between 35 and 20 means now they get to sit in the drivers seat and you get to sit back and watch as they completely fuck everything up and are useless, when the next cycle comes around people will understand your party as the credible alternative (we had 20 percent last time, we have a base now)

It’s our best result ever but idk seeing the neolibs get almost 40% of the votes after fucking up the city for the past 11 years is infuriating

Well it’s officially 20.2%. An increase of 11.5% from last elections. We have some good results in Brussels too. Rest of the country is pretty mid.

Conclusion: there is a lot of work to be done. I think the quietness on social media and in chat groups is telling us all that we need to know for now. I’ll go to bed and tomorrow will be another day.

20% of the vote for a socialist party in a capitalist country that doesn’t have a legacy of communism is very impressive though! You didn’t win, but the neolibs will continue to neolib and conditions will continue to get worse, and people will want to support the party that actually wants to do something about it.

This isn’t the end, it’s just the beginning. 1 in 5 people supporting your party is great, and those numbers will only grow as things get worse for people due to the capitalist parties in charge.

I don’t know what politics in Belgium is like, but at this point I’d imagine they’ll start a major campaign of character assassinations of your representatives and your party in the media (that’s what happens to leftist third parties in my country). Do you have a plan of action to deal with things in the case the establishment gets nasty, or really nasty and starts arresting members of your party?

I think we have the ‘dealing with media slander’ thing under control. It’s been happening for a while now and we keep growing despite of it.

When it comes to actual action against us, like arresting us or physical violence, I’m not sure what will be done against that. I have tried to ask questions about that internally but I have never gotten a solid response. I know the right wing parties have actual militias disguised as ‘groups of friends and members’ who are getting arms and combat training so I hope we don’t stay too naive for too long, because that’s what we’re up against when shit goes down.

Those that can afford exposure like this, in the sense they have jobs they wont lose by being in prison, or are well off enough that being arrested means nothing to them should be the key people you use for actions that may result in police or fascist responses, at least with masks off ;)

The more vunerable people should do the work that involves shaking peoples hands, handing leaflets out, debating ect

If you’re the 2nd largest party disportianate violence against you is actually very benefiicial for agit prop reasons, get the cameras out and film the psychos attacking you, they are the repressive state apparatus of the ruling party and should be painted as ‘the ruling parties thugs’ rather than the neutral police, people will see the contradictions quickly this way.
