After 15 years of development, Caves of Qud 1.0 is out now. It’s a sci-fantasy game inspired by settings like Dune and Gamma World.
It’s a roguelike, but it has a pretty good UI for the genre. You can even play it on a Steam Deck—or so I’ve heard.
Its a pretty massive game with a ton of choices and options.
If thats not enough to bring you on board it has overwhelmingly positive reviews on steam
Also the devs are pretty cool
It’s expensive tho
Its on GoG so im pretty sure its easy to pirate. Otherwise ask your mom to buy it as a christmas present

Merry Christmas
Haha thanks!
I know there’s a lib inside my head and he must be killed but some part of me always feels bad when if I think about pirating indie games. One time not so long ago I got groceries delivered like the bougie scum that I am and there was a legitimate fuckup in the delivery process, so I claimed it an ordered a replacement order. Just after the claim process was completed the delivery got dropped off and I felt bad because I was getting more than I should have and I worried that I might have gotten the delivery driver in trouble accidentally. I probably need to be more ruthless or something but I feel like I’m not really built that way. It’s only when someone is an irredeemable piece of shit that I can get past this mental block in me.
No ethical consumption I guess, but enjoy.
It might not help in the now, but there’s always the “delayed payment” method. Go and buy a copy when you can afford it, encourage others to get it
Also, if it makes you feel any better, there’s a number of devs who are happy people are just enjoying their creation, engaging with their art. It’s great when it keeps you fed, but that’s not where the passion to put that much dead time into something comes from. That passion comes from a love and drive for what you’re creating and sharing with the world.
