Hey all,
So I’m getting to the point in the hobby where I’ve basically assembled an entire board from scratch, but the one thing I have not done yet it any stabilizer tuning.
I just got a Zoom TKL AE, and the WS Stabs they have are…ok. I want to upgrade them, and I’ve heard people speak highly of Durock, but was wondering if there were any other recommendations?
These are the ones I’m currently looking at; Hopefully those are the ones people are talking about.
I will second Durock V2s and TX AP/Rev3 or rev4 stabs. If you use TX make sure you use the “plugs” - the little wheel of snap-off bell-shaped pieces that hold the stab in from behind since they do not screw in.
Also double check your PCB thickness, 1.2mm vs. 1.6mm and make sure you get the right size.
I don’t have a lot of experience with stabs, only ever got preinstalled ones in the beginning when I bought mostly prebuilt stuff, and durock ones after I got a bit of experience and started building my own keyboards.
What I can say is I am extremely happy with durock, especially if you buy foam stickers to place between the stab and the PCB, and if you lube them. Zero rattle, they feel solid, they look great.
Ended up getting some Durock V2 today and lubing/ installing them; They’re great! My PCB does have that layer of foam between the stab and PCB already, so I didn’t add any extra, but they feel and sound great.
Durok are supposed to be pretty good. But another alternative are tx ap stabs. Before I rubbed them the tx were smooth and feel great for me.
