We’re moving to a metered storage policy on our Dropbox Advanced plan. There is no action required today from the vast majority of our customers, who will be able to keep their existing storage and more for up to five years at no additional charge. Read on below for additional details.

    Any all-you-can-eat policy is going to attract people who abuse it, and storage isn’t cheap so this isn’t really a surprise. Looking at the limits they’re pretty generous for any real use case and people who need more than that should probably just accept that big storage is going to cost money.

    They blame Chia miners but how could be possible? Once mined a plot it can be uploaded to the cloud and forgot about it? If that’s so, there’s plenty of free unlimited space in /dev/null

    Note: I have no idea how Chia works, I don’t use it
