Sounds idealistic from the jump. I’m sure I don’t have to break down all of the climate fuckery happening to our planet in the year of our Miku 2023.
I think deathly times may lay ahead for many of us, and the West (particularly USA) will rot while the world prospers. But as for the fate of humankind and the planet as a whole, I have faith in our burgeoning scientific advancements, especially as the majority of the world frees themselves from resource drains like war and poverty. Already I have heard of many technologies and strategies meant to slow, stop, or reverse climate change that sounded promising, and they will only get better and better as something like superintelligent A.I. and a truly cooperative humanity are put to use.
That being said, things will get worse before they get better, and I’m sure for many people across the world, it will seem like apocalypse. Many of us may die terribly and avoidably, thinking civilization was collapsing alongside us.
To have any chance, we need to get rid of capitalism as a rule and stop the hate machine that flourishes on any social network
I thought the same thing at first, but her thesis is actually that shit is royally fucked and deteriorating rapidly, just that things won’t be over for everyone all at once. The world as we know it is ending, but there are decades of struggle ahead of us.
Makes more sense in that context
