I’m not talking about the people going underground part or them not knowing why they are there, but the parts were lots of things are hinted at or plot bits dangled and then it just turns out there aren’t any answers.

While the surface level story of severance is annoying since it doesn’t like to give answers (so far), it also criticizes workplace culture and work in general which makes it satisfying to me.

It could be in a sense of how much it is loved/discussed, and the fact that it is appointment tv like Lost was (which is not really a thing anymore making it even more impressive!). But Severance seems to me a much more consistent and well thought out show that is well planned/leading somewhere (not in circles like Lost did). Yellowjackets feels more like Lost to me, the seemingly aimlessness of some plots, the weird supernatural bits thrown in to confuse, the lack of answers. I also get the same feeling watching Yellowjackets that I did watching Lost near the end - hate watching just to see where the ridiculous story goes and if they can even have a satisfying ending. Severance feels like things happen for a reason, and they have the ending figured out but only time will tell

Dan Erickson has said that he knows how it ends and has a specific scene in mind. But they don’t know exactly how they’re going to get there.

I mean, that’s kinda what they said about Lost, but then they had to fill 3 seasons because the network wasn’t ready to end it, and by the time they got to the end, everyone had guessed the twist and it went out with a whimper.

Of course we’ve had other terrible endings to massive shows since then, so

Well, that show was also a week-by-week cliffhanger with no internal consistency. It was all bluster from JJ.

No, From is the new Lost. It’s so good though, I highly recommend it.

Seems pretty early to talk about questions being unanswered when it’s just halfway through the second season
