“President Donald Trump said he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin wants peace” He could just leave Ukrainine then, couldn’t he? He doesn’t want peace, he wants the old Russian Empire (whatever that was) back.
I think it’s a little more complex. He wants to prove that if any small country anywhere in his orbit displeases him, he can bomb the shit out of it. Even with this war going as poorly as it is for him, that goal is still getting accomplished. I don’t think any country in that area wants to be the next Ukraine.
Peace is the word they use when meaning Ukraine surrendering to Russia.
