      Before this frame, both of main characters are inside of a car. One of the main characters honks the horn, angry by the car traffic, the one honking the horn, thinks his sister is holding another protest/demonstration. There’s normal friends conversations in the middle of this…

      Then, the narrator says:

      There were three demonstrations across the city that day. But the traffic jam holding them up had been caused by Marcelino Escutia, a migrant bricklayer from Michoacán. Marcelino had been hit by a speeding bus. He never used the pedestrian bridge, because it’s poor location meant walking an extra mile and a half (2km) to his work site. His unidentified body was taken to the city morgue, where it went unclaimed for four days.

      This reminded me of a song by Chico Buarque, called ‘Construção’ and a verse in that song; “Morreu na contramão atrapalhando o público” = “He died in the wrong lane, obstructing the public (aka the car traffic).”. That song has too many layers to discover in this case, but I think the meaning was the same.
