repairability updates to pixel watch 4 are especially exciting to me
I’m really disappointed that even the larger model still only gets “up to 40” hours of battery. That’s not even two days, and that’s if lucky.
I like charging my current watch only to 80%, then the next day it’s at 50%. If I miss a day it’s still fine.
I feel very underwhelmed. I think if it had a slightly bigger battery and fast charging then I’d likely pull the trigger on the 10, but it feels like a downgrade from my 6 year old phone that I’m running now.
Honestly no idea what phone I can upgrade to, I’ve been putting it off for a couple of years now.
If your phone isn’t broken and still running well, why change it?
It’s not getting OS updates, I’m stuck on Android 11, and the battery life isn’t what it used to be. Upgrading to a new phone would give me longer battery life that I’m getting now, but my phone for the first few years would comfortably get me well into a second day, where as I feel like the pixel 10 would last a day, but how long would it last after a few years? When these phones cost £800+ (my phone cost £500) it’s difficult to justify buying them.
Is your bootloader unlockable? You could try using a custom ROM with MicroG. Saves you a ton of battery life and gets you OS level vuln. updates. You’ll still have chip level vulns. but it’ll help the planet out a bit longer than it would if you buy a new phone sooner :p
I’ve no idea, it’s not something I’ve tinkered with since my Nexus 4. I’ll be honest, I just can’t be bothered with flashing custom ROMs to my phone these days, I haven’t got the time nor the energy. Cheers for the suggestion though :)
I’ve had my phone for over 6 years so I think I’ve probably done more than most on that front, and I’d love my next phone to last just as long which is why I’m skeptical about the battery on the Pixel 10. Seeing comments from people saying they’re upgrading from their Pixel 7 because the battery life isn’t great is a big red flag, that phone isn’t old.
If there were a 6.0" variant of the OnePlus 13 then I think I’d probably choose that.
One day on a single charge for Pixel Watch 4 is a good improvement. Still not enough for me, but it’s a step. Maybe in a couple of years it’ll hold for two days and then I’ll get it.
Despite all the negativity online, I’m moving from my pixel 6 to this one, even though my current phone works just fine.
I’m going to see a few noticeable improvements and believe it or not I’m glad they’re finally adding useful AI things.
Still waiting for a watch that will have ok battery life. I’m using a garmin forerunner to help training and the training focus+battery life is a no brainer for me. Still miss having a really smart watch instead of an “intelligent training watch” though.
Yup. The Pixel 9 to 10 is pretty minor unless you have a specific reason (then you’d be better served elsewhere).
But moving from 4year+ (which you shouldn’t upgrade regularly anyways) old phone - this is a nice upgrade
