As in a reply in mastodon to a mastodon post that is not on lemmy but the reply itself also “ats“ a lemmy community? Yea that doesn’t appear in lemmy from what I’ve seen also.
But it also makes sense no? To appear in lemmy you need to be either starting a new thread/post or replying to a post or comment already on lemmy (right?) you can’t just copy someone else’s mastodon post to lemmy, which seems like a reasonable choice.
Interestingly, quote toots would work well for starting a lemmy threads to discuss someone else’s post. Which of course can be done blue if you manually copy the link (and politely at the original author).
Was the idea you were testing whether a new mastodon/fediverse post addressed to a Lemmy community creates a new thread in lemmy?
That’s been my observation too (and it seems to have worked here too obviously).
