Constant fear of falling out of a window will do that to a person. Reading through Krushchev’s memoirs are an interesting, albeit extremely wordy, window into what it is like to work for one of the worlds foremost despots. He despised Stalin and considered him to be evil, yet willingly signed the death warrants of his own friends and family out of fear that if he did not, the next one would be his own. Unfortunately, the blood on one’s hands is not washed away by fear.
