What is the process like? And if they accept me, what obligations do I have, and what sort of tasks could I be doing for them?
Asking because I think I should do my duty as a communist and join a party or organization, but I have no idea where to even start or what to expect. Would be interested to hear your experiences.
-
Look up parties in your area as well as laws and norms in your country around communist parties to determine the best course of action
-
Research these parties and determine if they are worth joining or not
-
Apply to join

Depends on country and region. I recently joined the CPUSA. And they had no local parties for me to participate in so there isn’t much I really am able to do but I can pay my dues and donate to the party. Now if I lived closer to a big city where the CPUSA had a presence I could help the party in a more present manner. So even if you are not near enough to you party to be there for every protest or meeting you are still able to help with donations and things like that.
Now for actually joining the party. With the CPUSA as an example it was very simple. I filled out a form stating where I am from and how to reach me and reasons for me joining the party. After the form I was sent to a page to pay my dues, the CPUSA recommends a full year of dues at once which added up to around 60 dollars. Once that was done, two weeks later I got an email back stating they accepted me. But this is just one example and this is for one party and for one region. It heavily depends on where you are. I hope I was helpful in some way. Thank you
