Hey I watched ArmchairHistorians YT Video on Roman Uniforms yesterday and it made me wonder how did they adapt to cold and muddy weather? I guess Sandals however big soles they had are not really good for conditions below the freezing point.

Did they have any standardised Winter Gear or did every unit and or soldier deal with cold on his own with improvised clothing?
