hello everyone

i wanted to finally come back and explain why i disappeared after my last update.

for anyone new reading this, we are a small group of trans and queer refugee sisters living in juba, south sudan. before all this happened, some of my sisters were actually preparing for their asylum flights to canada after years of surviving camp life under unhcr protection.

after we received emergency support for our release, two men forced me to unlock my phone while i was trying to transfer the funds safely. they took everything from us except our refugee documents and forced us to leave.

we eventually made it back to juba with help from a kind lorry driver who stopped for us on the road.

since then we have been struggling to recover. we lost our previous place to stay and are now sharing a very small room with other trans girls here in juba who welcomed us in after hearing what happened.

there are currently eleven of us staying together.

i have been offline this whole time because my phone was taken and i couldn’t remember my password when i finally tried to log back in.

today i managed to access my account again and i really wanted to update everyone who supported us and kept us in their thoughts.

we are deeply grateful to everyone who helped us survive that situation, especially the donor whose support helped secure our release.

we are safe for now, though still trying to rebuild after everything that happened.

we also took this photo today while sitting together here. honestly it felt emotional because after everything that happened these past weeks, we just wanted the people who stood with us to know that we made it back alive.

things are still really hard and we are still trying to rebuild ourselves slowly but for today we are at least together and safe

Thank you so much comrades for standing with us
