    Had to stop using it for longer trips. Unfortunately the traffic data from Google is kinda vital. :(

        i assume it’s actually vital in places like the US, where roads aren’t designed so much as they grow like a fungus and thus you can quite literally have kilometers of traffic standing completely still.

          Yeah especially on a long drive where due to traffic info I can save 30-45 mins or more on some occasions, I’ll take the privacy hit.

        When you are travelling for 9 hours with little kids, avoiding a long traffic jam and saving an hour is vital

      If anyone wants an interesting project I’ve been thinking you could use all those DOT cameras to generate rough traffic data without a bunch of location data. But it’d definitely be tricky to differentiate traffic from cars stopped at a light as well as dealing with when cameras are pivoted.
