Veganism is most certainly a privilege.

Yes there are impoverished parts of the world that veganism is considerably more accessible, India being a prime example. However I would argue that many people in India are vegan or vegetarian not necessarily by choice but out of either necessity or poverty.

Being able to choose what you eat in terms of:

    1. Where it comes from
    2. Cost
    3. Packaging
    4. Meat vs dairy vs plant matter
    5. Vegan substitutes
    6. Time to prepare
    7. Healthiness
    8. Cultural norms
    9. Access to medical assessments to track potential deficiencies etc. etc.

This is all a matter of privilege. There are an enormous number of people globally that do not have one or more of these privileges. The difficulty of veganism is exacerbated or alleviated depending upon the circumstances one finds themselves in.

To act like these factors are not important considerations is idealistic.
