Damn I made a post in the gaming@beehaw.org complaining about Battle Royale games and I’m happy to notice that posts on Lemmy now have actual engagement!
Actually even more than all the posts i’ve made on reddit since there’s no algorithm meant to close us in fucking echo-chambers
The instances are a bit of an echo chamber, depending on which instances they block for everyone.
As in. There’s many big instances blocking lemmygrad because of red scare propaganda. But you don’t see much blocking of right wing hate speech instances. (not meaning lemmygrad has hate speech, we just see more nuance on world politics than they are capable of understanding)
But I’m generally optimistic about the whole situation.
But it’s not the same kind of “echo-chamber” as it is in mainstream social media such as Instagram, Twitter etc… Here it’s about topics, not ideas
I joined Lemmy yesterday and I was surprised how easy it was to interact communities on other instances. This makes it a lot easier for users to just join an instance and interact with all of Lemmy (this was a lot more difficult for me on Mastodon). I hope we can keep the activity going.
