The clock works as intended and ticks in predictable intervals. It’s much the same as rain whipping against a window or a old house groaning during storm.
The faucet dripping means something is wrong and will annoy me to no end. It’s much the same as a buzzing fly or screaming/panicking children.

Interesting.
I can tolerate non repetitive sounds, like rain, or wind, or the house settling.
Reliably consistent sounds do my head in.
