I watched some Stanislav Kropivnikov stuff and decided to read about him. Read how he identified a lot of problems with the west correctly, and then got disappointed when he blamed it on the gays and trans youth healthcare. Was watching Douglas Mcgregor. Aside from saying something along the lines of “Stalin made a mistake when creating Ukraine because Ukrainians are fake there’s no such nationality” he was spot that the west has to look into itself and change. And then he randomly blamed immigrants. Maddening.
Anti-establishment, right-wingers are usually dissent conservatives although some are Libertarians. Russia Today (RT) has been cultivating those conservative dissents since the left leaning, RT America got destroyed by the U.S. government. RT’s English section’s articles have become worst because of it.
This is normal for pretty much any source of news and analysis. You are not always going to agree with everything they say and everyone they platform, and that’s ok. Especially when they platform people with a diverse range of views, some of the guests are going to inevitably have reactionary takes and low quality analysis. I personally don’t listen to any episodes of any program with Doug Mcgregor, not so much because of his reactionary views – sometimes people can have reactionary views and still have good analysis – but just because i find his commentary very uninteresting, repetitive, low quality and not that reliable. Same goes for some others.
Krapivnik is more interesting because he has better info on what is actually happening militarily, but i skip the segments where he bloviates on some culture war nonsense or other. Again, not because i find it offensive – like i said, you should not shy away from taking in analysis from people even with views contrary to your own if it’s good analysis – but because it’s boring and provides nothing of value to a conversation. It is important to value your own time and not waste it on pointless nonsense.
The good thing about Glenn Diesen is that he lets everyone make their points without interrupting. The bad thing is, he has guests like extremely reactionary Douglas McGregor, or that annoying fake Chinese “professor” who is pushing some obviously insane conspiracy theories. Stanislav is interesting for his battlefield knowledge I guess, but otherwise, as he once said “I am a monarchist!” which is a laughably dumb thing to publicly admit to.
These guests have some good insights, but they also have a lot of dumb ones too and it’s basically up to you to filter out the obviously dumb ones. For example, McGregor always and without fail, pivots to immigrants as the root of all evil and for me personally, he isn’t worth listening to, for a couple of interesting points he perhaps managed to make under a mountain of garbage. Krapivnik mostly talks about the battlefield, so if that’s your thing, he is (for me) more tolerable than McGregor.
I temp unsubscribed from Glenn when he started having “prof” Jiang on. He also had that weenie Gad Saad on at one point. The comments were absolutely scathing so I hope he doesn’t try that again.
Skill issue: I simply don’t listen to the episodes with those guests.
you know that’s fair, which guests would you recommend?
Marandi, Mearsheimer, Crooke, Mercouris, Hudson, Blumenthal, Sachs, Wolff, Berletic, Postol, Varoufakis.
Marandi never seems to miss. The rest have their issues, but I’m not going to nitpick today.
Crooke is an interesting guy. I’m reading his Resistance book about Iran and it’s informative though I don’t expect ideological alignment with my views. With any of these people you have to exercise tolerance. Sachs for example has some geopolitical and historical insights but just cannot fathom that imperialism does what it does because it’s an obligate blood drinker. He’s constantly moaning about bad choices and why can’t we be more sensible. Uh, because that’s not where surplus value comes from, Jeff.
thank you ❤️

I hate not being able to see removed content and a reason for banning. Even if the reasons aren’t sus, it looks sus af
The modlog shows them banned 5 months ago for a couple of minorly rude comments. And then recently a ban for ban evasion. It doesn’t make much sense to me either. Perhaps it was an alt of someone banned prior?
Idk, but I know whenever intricate data gets to me, it’s frustrating when the person who presents it is suddenly banned before I can dig deeply and ask questions, or sometimes before I can settle enough to read it. 😂😢
damn, ok, I’m sorry.

Diesen is like a lost child in the woods/deer in the headlights sometimes. I genuinely think the guy is qualified & very fair-minded, but his face just looks like he’s just seen a new lifeform.
He needs to drop Big River Nostradamus but otherwise his guests are only between 5 & 35% nuts.
