    Yes, that part is local to each instance. But the question is why would you want to have several accounts? You can follow content from one instance on another instance, without needing to have accounts everywhere.

    Works because the other instances don’t learn your mail address. More generally, the account management is the business of the local instance. This way you can use somewhat different identities and/or explore other instances.
