I finally bought my first headless guitar, a Hils HNT1.

Since Strandbergs came out in 2012, the whole point of headless guitars is to be as ergonomic as it gets. But Strandbergs also look like alien axes from Halo, which may appeal to many people, but I’m more into a classic look.
So here’s where Hils steps into the spotlight: all their guitars try to ease your eye as well as your posture, especially with the latest HNS1 and HNT1 models. Even my most hardcore traditional friends had to cave in and admit that they nailed the look.

The guitar makes you want to play all the time. It always sits perfectly, whether you’re standing, sitting or laying on your sofa and watching TV while practicing scales. And even if I didn’t buy this guitar for it’s sound, the pickups do their honest work.

For the money (400€), Hils gave a great amount of attention to their product: the guitar came out of the box properly set up and intonated and I was positively surprised when I opened the back panel and found out that the cavity was covered in shielding paint and the volume pot had a treble bleed. You don’t see things like these from the lawsuit brand.

I bet that wouldn’t be too difficult/expensive to have the frets smoothed up a little.

Are there any upgrades that you are planning on?

    Also, how’s the body contour?

I’d say it’s nice, it has an arm contour that make it comfortable to play in the upright position and a belly carve

On the long term I’m probably going to replace the electronics: there is nothing wrong, it’s just that the potentiometers are linear when I prefer them to be logarithmic and while I’m at it I’ll put a stronger switch on. But it’s just perfectionism, if I had to keep the guitar as is it would be totally fine
