The fact they set the leases out to 2035 cements their lack of interest in fixing anything. For the devs left behind, I cannot imagine the constant demoralising image of another company inhabiting the skeleton of where their friends used to have jobs. This on top of knowing full well that it’s only a matter of time before joining the back of the insurmountable line of laid off developers (and not just in games).
I’m not sure how anyone in AAA stays sane anymore. So many of the people I follow in games have been reduced to beggers just to pay rent.
One of my uni friends works for an EA satellite office.
They seemingly just become numb to it eventually, and disassociate. As long as he is getting paid (pretty well, honestly) to do what he loves - he’s happy to keep his head down and shut up.
It’s a bit sad of a state of affairs all-in-all; especially as the whole EA Spouse controversy came to light while we were still studying.
As a Halo junkie, this is sad to read
It’s sad seeing both Halo and Bungie destroyed by literally the most brain dead and incompetent management alive. The worst part is I can tell there’s genuinely still some incredibly passionate people that know how to make fun games working or did work for both 343 and Bungie that are being totally hampered by this too.
