Excellent point. Even if the 2 day blackout doesnt hurt reddit in the short term, long term it could. It convinced many people, myself included, to start using other options. If (and frankly when) reddit makes more stupid choices the other options will have something of a community when more of the masses get outraged
It’s already changed so much from what it used to be, it’s crazy. I’m definitely dealing with withdrawals just from not being there, it was a powerful habit for me to go and scroll, but I was already enjoying the content there less and less and have been happy for the break. I’ve read two good books since the beginning of the blackout and really can’t see myself installing Reddit on my phone any time soon. The break has been a relief. I like it here a lot more.
Yea, it’s gonna be sad watching it slowly morph into something unrecognizable. You could argue it was already doing that these last few years, but with the loss of many old-school redditors change will be faster imo
