National cartoonists tend to get a fair amount of fan mail as I understand it. I suppose it’s always possible that Amend got enough mail voicing fan displeasure with the jealous Andy routine that it factored in to his retiring this aspect. *shrug*
I do not normally look ahead at the upcoming strips, but in this case I did. Tomorrow is a Sunday strip, and then a new story line starts. So for now, at least, this is done.
