I have some Micca bookshelf speakers powered by a Fosi v3 (32v). Currently just have a small tv connected via 3.5 mm to RCA, where we just stream music via youtube. I recently brought home a few hundred CDs that had been in my parents closet for the last 15 years. I’m an audio noob, but like the idea of mostly playing music at home on physical media. I still have an external cdrw drive and a decent collection of albums purchased on bandcamp too.

I’m thinking about buying a Fosi Merak CD player and GR40 preamp to do the switching (and occasional phone streaming via bluetooth), total $260. Is this overkill for a pair of bookshelf speakers? And if so, would this system still be useable if we upgrade the speakers/add a subwoofer someday?
