Our toys are “sexy” too. They are still toys. Why wouldn’t our ancestors have given their kids dolls to play with? Why is every thing from ancient cultures a ceremonial artifact? How many ceremonial items do any of us have in our homes? Why do we like to treat people of the past like an entirely different species? They were humans just like us and behaved very much like we do because they are us. And we give our kids toys. When people dig up landfills a thousand years from now to learn about us they are going to find heaps of discarded plastic toys we made for our kids and then declare they are part of fertility rituals too. As is tradition.
