This thing needs to be able to access my reading history directly from my brain, or preferably even some outside backup I’m not aware of. I love the idea, loved Movielens back in the day before I lost my login and couldn’t repopulate the database. Just listing even close to everything I’ve read from memory and giving any sort of meaningful rating is an impossible ask.
Can someone give me the tl;dr for “ELO system” and how it applies to ranking books?
Elo comes from chess, it was used to rank player skill against each other. You basically generate a score by comparing two at a time in head to head matchups.
It’s honestly not the best way to rank books (especially of different genres), but it was fun to goof around with for a bit!
Looks like you can’t download the app and analyze your data locally. You have to give this website your data and preferences instead.
Like everything else though. Even Bookwyrm, though there the data is maybe not harvested commercially.
It uses user data and likes to generate recommendations, presumably, so it wouldn’t work locally.
