I’m a fully mobile user (Android), so that limits my options. I don’t just want to delete my account but also delete my posts and comments.
I was mostly shitposting but still had some 200k Karma so it could pinch Reddit a bit to remove that but it won’t hurt users or Google search since I wasn’t doing anything ‘productive’ or ‘helpful’.
Hmmm, have you tried using the website in desktop mode to run power delete suite? Could be worth a shot.
Just did and it didn’t even connect. Thanks for the tip though. 👍
Dang, maybe you could find some kind of public or work computer, or even a freinds computer to run it on? It works entirely within a web browser so there shouldn’t be any security issues.
I have a laptop but it’s in the repair shop. My kid got coffee all over it… So I’m limited just to my phone for now. My work laptop has strict corporate limitations in it, so it won’t connect to any social media, this includes Reddit and apparently GitHub too.
I wanted to purge my Reddit account since I have some time on my hands now.
Hmmmm. Maybe if you have an internet cafe or library or something nearby, other than that Im out of ideas.
You can use PowerDeleteSuite (https://github.com/j0be/PowerDeleteSuite), just follow the instructions here: https://github.com/j0be/PowerDeleteSuite#installation
Doesn’t work ☹️
Sorry, click on the button here: https://github.com/j0be/PowerDeleteSuite#installation
I used redact.dev. Worked great on macOS.
Not available for mobile. ☹️ I mean, maybe it is for iPhones if it’s on Mac OS but I have Android.
Thanks for the tip though. I’m sure it will be useful to someone also interested in this topic.
EDIT: It had a conflict with my VPN but once I resolved it I got it to work and it’s wiping my account now.
Thank you very much!
Good luck. All my shit there is wiped. Sucks, but no other choice.
You want Power Delete Suite. You can filter what you wish to delete by karma, gilding, subreddit, whatever. You can also batch-edit your posts rather than deleting if you want to leave a little message on the way out.
I too would like to know this. Somebody recommended shreddit and I tried that, it said it would delete all my visible comment history, which it appeared to do, but then later a whole new batch of older comments became visible.
That sounds like it has some limit. Like, it can delete in a bulk of max 100 comments, for example.
Still better than doing it one by one.
Could be but in that case the documentation was misleading.
