Shortly after my previous post about BEX, my merc company folded due to a lack of funds.
I took the opportunity to install BTA and give it a try. I love the depth, I love the details, but I’m really struggling with the lack of a cohesive art style. I’m finding it pulling me out of my suspension of disbelief.
Has anyone else had that difficulty? Will I outgrow it with time?
I’m not sure exactly what you’re referring to, but I suspect it’s the issue with several mech models that are part of the CAB done in such a way that they don’t take your company’s paint scheme. They always just look a particular way (and often ugly). As I understand it (and I could be wrong, I’m not a dev or anything, I just play BTA a lot), this isn’t really a BTA issue so much as it is a CAB issue.
But to answer your question, I’ve played hundreds (thousands?) of hours of BTA and yeah, I find it annoying, but you kinda just learn to move past it with time and not think about it too much. At least that’s been my experience.
And the pilot pictures and the mini portraits of the mechs. I got mostly used to the CAB assets playing BEX.
Ah, yeah. Not sure what to tell you about that. People wanted more portraits, so the BTA team added in the portrait loader mod, and it’s been loaded up over the years by various people without regard to artistic consistency. That said, aside from special pilots (kickstarter backers and ronin), you can customize your pilot portraits. So if you want to, you could choose to only recruit customizable pilots and change their portraits to only things that work for you.
Can’t help you with mech portraits, sorry.
Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate it.
