I’m all in on Lemmy
If I could access my 15 year old account, if probably do the same. 2FA fucked me over lol
Baconreader or bust!
So heads up: I’ve seen comments from some users that their deleted comments on Reddit had been restored. Haven’t personally seen it myself as this is all anecdotal, but if you’ve deleted your comments on Reddit, you might want to go check from time to time.
I still have premium through the end of August, while they’re not getting ad revenue from me I have a little time to go gather and archive things I might want (I saved one resource right before the sub it was from went permanently dark but I haven’t had a chance to make sure I have everything else I wanted) and then I probably won’t be back.
And, for interest, I bought premium because I was using a 3PA and knew they weren’t making money off of me so I thought it was fair back when I was interested in supporting the site.
I did the same, and I also cancelled my premium account (I know, I shouldn’t have paid for it in the first place).
There is a sub called r/lounge which is a “reward” for paying for Reddit Premium, and you also get temporary access if your post gets gilded. It’s a pretty inane sub mainly for just idle chatting, but I really noticed the amount of posts in there drop off a cliff in the final week. They hide the subscriber count, so you can’t see how many members there are. But just judging by post activity, I guarantee that it at least cut in half.
I deleted my content and kept the account. Today I had some content back! It seems like they are restoring. I’ll keep my account to delete again and again if they do that.
you can export first, then delete your reddit comments/posts in a few clicks using : https://github.com/j0be/PowerDeleteSuite
That’s exactly what I did, with the extra step of editing all comments and posts to “Fuck u/spez”
Music to my ears
I have really mixed feelings about all this. I don’t support Reddit and it’s stupid choices but deleting comments and such is more of a blow to the community and anyone who needs that past knowledge than it is to Reddit at large.
Searching the internet really sucks these days.
