    The US is not safe though, we know this already. If you’re a part of any marginalized community, you’re at risk of death.

      Not sure why this was downvoted. The NAACP issued a travel advisory for POC in Florida and the HRC issued a state of emergency for queer folks in most of the country.

        That can’t be the test for asylum, though. The question isn’t whether people are being persecuted in Florida. It’s whether there is no safe option within the US. Currently, there are still safe states for minorities and LGBT people.

    No one who’s seen a few immigration hearings in the US holds any illusions that the US is upholding its international obligation to accept asylum seekers.

    Real “out-of-touch gentry telling starving folk to eat cake” vibes.

    The US being unsafe is a US problem. Canada is holding up to its side of the agreement, while the US isn’t.
