Good read, gives me a lot of hope for this project.
I look forward to an exciting future with all of you.

This was written by the Lemmy devs.
How do they deny this? Are they actively posting saying that this is not true?

Here is Dessalines denying that any genocide is taking place.
Here I only see that some moderator, most likely on lemmy.ml (but not proven) bans statements critical of China. I do not see what you stated.
If you scrolled down you’d see Dessalines’ comment. Although another user commented elsewhere that the URL was busted. Here is a SS for you:
That’s what I was asking. Thank you!
it’s a blurb in the linked announcement.
I do not see it. Could you copy the text?
oh, you’re asking the opposite of what I thought.
Up until a week ago, yes they were still denying the genocide and suppressing attempts to talk about it (they call it “orientalism”). I think they’ve been too swamped to do much since then.
There are some links to their reddit above with older stuff.
I don’t understand that rumor, a simple search on lemmy.ml/c/worldnews shows a lot of posts talking about the Uyghurs: https://lemmy.ml/search/q/Uyghurs/type/Posts/sort/New/listing_type/All/community_id/14788/creator_id/0/page/1
If they remove orientalist posts, that seems fair since the rules of the instances states that they don’t allow biggotery. I would rather have those removed so we can have more constructive discussions around articles about the same topic but written in good faith, nobody wants lemmy to turn into the same troll farm that was reddit.
