Free games? In THIS economy? Well, in exchange for your eyeballs at least. (Figuratively, not literally… although don’t give them ideas.)
As long as they don’t charge while showing you ads, this sounds alright. Subscriptions with ads are unbelievable greed that I will never buy into.
It won’t start that way. Give it a few years and an under-performing quarter and it’ll happen.
Yeah, I have that same skepticism when they announce these things. Only a matter of time before the rest of us see some ads but pay just as much if not more. I’m hoping they don’t.
Do you really want to be halfway through a strike on Destiny 2 and get disconnected to show an advert? if you’ve noticed on xbox even just pulling up another screen, or simply alt-tabbing off for just a moment will disconnect you from the server and make you start over your sesh.
Whilst I’m very much against ads this could be a good way to get a free “demo” of a game. Seen as basically zero games have demos anymore, being able to play the first 15-30 mins for the price of watching a couple ads before buying could be worth it.
