Not that I have anything against stackexchange (yet), but it seems like the perfect example of a site that could be set up in the fediverse. Different stackexchange-networks could be set up as different instances. Seems too obvious of an idea that nobody has done it yet
Yeah, I hope to see it as well. They have recently turned off their dumps of CC-BY-3 content, so there are some reasons to be wary about your data with them.
There’s at least https://www.codidact.com/. It’s not federated, but OS and community driven at least.
Someone tried to run a Lemmy instance for that purpose, unfortunately it wasnt successful (and I cant remember the name). Anyway it should work fine with some design adjustments.
I think you’d need a different frontend than Lemmy for that
