I mean seriously mlem didn’t even have search until recently. Memmy had it before mlem. Memmy seems to be developing quicker too and feels more feature complete in my opinion.

I’m really stoked we’ve had this rapid development over the past week. I don’t expect that to go on forever because the rate of updates just isn’t sustainable, but once we get the new icon I’ll be happy with longer intervals between new stuff.

I’m also just really stoked the Lemmy API is so open that we can have a TON of apps being developed in parallel, and now I have the luxury of choosing the one I like best instead of just having to pick what works.

When all the Reddit stuff started, I was just using the mobile browser version. Now look at us! We’re using this slick and semi-stable app that not only works but it looks good doing it!

My thoughts exactly, having the ability to bounce between the two apps is great because it feels like each have their benefits. Mommy’s development seems a little further along, but I’ve found myself using Mlem more frequently despite that

I’m new to Lemmy, about a week or so ago I discovered Mlem and thought it was great to have a proper app, even if it was a beta. Today I found Memmy and I’m very impressed. Both have the basics pretty well done, although i can’t find search in Mlem still now, so I’m using Memmy primarily for now.

Thank you to everyone that works on these apps for us.

Yep. I started on Mlem because it felt a little more native in iOS. But am using Memmy now because it feels much more feature complete. But I love having multiple options!

Mlem is just one person, from my understanding. Memmy isn’t a big group, but it is a group.

Mlem is also a group, but the founder left recently which has likely thrown them for a bit.

Do you have any more details on this (or know where I can find more). I’m currently trying to decide which Lemmy app to use, and would be interested in reading more about Mlem’s history.

I don’t I’m afraid other than what I saw posted in the mlemapp community. There was also some recent shenanigans over that which again seems to have been resolved and they posted an update to the app recently.

Personally, I’m sticking with l memmy now, as keeping too many on the go was just a pain. The memmy community is great, responsive, and I’ve got a couple of PRs in now.

I’ve been keeping all the various Lemmy apps in a folder on my home screen and switching between them to get a feel for them all. So far, I haven’t found any that are perfect (nor would I expect to this early on), but Memmy is definitely up there.

I haven’t tried Mlem since I just realized that the Memmy test flight wasn’t full lol. I’m impressed with Memmy, for sure.

Yeah, it’s slightly more complete, at least for now. Eventually all the apps will have covered the basics, and then it’s going to be down to UX preference; and I find them to be quite different from each other, but each really strong and high-quality in its own right.
