Swipe anywhere to go back is an awesome feature that I absolutely love! No more reaching the edge of the screen. Just a quick swipe from anywhere, and you’re back to where you were. It’s so convenient. I first experienced this feature on the Apollo app, and now I wish every app had it. With Swipe anywhere to go back, I tend to open posts more easily because it’s easier to go back.
I like the idea. Can you explain (as someone who didn’t actually know this existed in Apollo) how this worked with other swipe gestures?
Oh cool! This is pretty easy to do then if it’s just disabling those swipes for the other offering. I might do three settings:
- Swipe gestures for comments/posts
- Swipe across the whole screen
- Both for comments/posts and swipe anywhere on the tab bar.
Can’t guarantee this will be done SUPER soon, but I’d expect it fairly soon.
One feature could also be swipe across the bottom navigation bar to go back, the Thunder iOS app had this gesture to open the subscription pane, but I think that the same idea can be used here!
I think this is the best idea. While it could be done as requested, it might be problematic with the current gestures. I’ll need to look into how to implement it properly.
The thing with putting it on the navigation bar is that, in the future, if you implement the full-screen mode that hides the top and bottom navigation bar when scrolling down, the bar would be hidden.
Agreed. This is one of my most sought after feature now that they’ve done pretty much everything else
Thanks for making me aware I can swipe from the edge of the screen. How would swipe anywhere work with swipe voting? Or are they mutually exclusive options?
That depends on whether you use only swipe anywhere to go back or both back and forward. In my case, it was just back, so it was still possible to do the swipe voting and comment from the other direction.
