I stopped watching short form media for this reason. I realized that I didn’t remember what I had just watched, nor did I care. When I did remember it was usually someones opinion on someone elses opinion on some topic that neither party knew anything about. Other times it was someone jumping into a swimming pool in a dinosaur costume.
It’s full of reactionary ideas and chains of dominos called trends. I still waste hours daily watching TV or listening to music. But I enjoy doing that far more than flicking tictok or Instagram.
Lemmy is an exception to that rule. I liked Reddit and link aggregators tend to have significantly more diversity in content.
