I just hope it won’t get quite as toxic as the reddit sub could get (at least back when I checked it a long while ago). If a sub has to make a “LowSodiumCyberpunk”, that means the community has serious problems. I hope this time around, we won’t need to split the community in half.
Imagine subscribing to a community just to talk about how much you hate the game the community is gathered to bond over. Those folk lead sad, sad lives. FWIW, after Edge Runners, everyone jumped on the train going in the other direction so it got better.
I have hope that Lemmy is pulling the cream off of Reddit, right now. The kinds of people that care enough to research a new platform and start to build it before it becomes the obvious better solution. We should be fine for a least a few years. At least until we get all the kinks worked out,
I mean the community was toxic on the early days due to the rough launch and reputation nowadays the original sub is for general memes and news while lowsodium is for discussions
Let’s be real though: It wasn’t the community that had serious problems, it was the game that had serious problems. It may well be that you did enjoy it, but pointing out all the flaws and bugs and CDPR’s shameful way of dealing with them is a valid thing to do. I hope we can agree that we don’t ever want to have such a catastrophic launch with any AAA game again, but given how the industry has changed with the big money it attracted, it’s not very likely that it won’t happen again.
